They wanted to be rock stars. First, they needed an amp that worked.
In a small town in the mid-1990s, four boys decide to start a band. Their ambition is considerably larger than the bedroom they rehearse in.
What follows is a string of battered equipment, borrowed gear, school dances, all-ages shows, dubious recording sessions, and songs they are sure will change the world. Somewhere between eighth grade and graduation, the band becomes less about getting famous and more about growing up together.
False Alarm: The Rise and Fall of a Garage Band is a funny, heartfelt coming-of-age novel about friendship, music, growing pains, and the kind of memories that outlast a band’s final performance.
Publication status: Coming soon. Release date, formats, and cover art have not yet been announced.
